Karen Volkman's books of poetry are Crash’s Law, a National Poetry Series selection, and Spar, which received the Iowa
Poetry Prize and the 2002 James Laughlin Award from the Academy of American Poets. Her poems have appeared in
numerous journals - with recent work appearing or soon to materialize in
New American Writing, Denver Quarterly,
American Letters & Commentary, and The Paris Review - and in anthologies including The Best American Poetry, The
Pushcart Prize Anthology
, and the forthcoming Great American Prose Poems. Recipient of awards and fellowships from the
NEA, the Poetry Society of America, and the Akademie Schloss Solitude, she is currently the Springer Poet-in-Residence at
the University of Chicago.
