Joan Retallack is the author of six books of poetry including Memnoir, How to Do Things with
Words
, Afterimages, and Errata 5uite, which won the Columbia Book Award chosen by Robert
Creeley. She is currently at work on an investigative poetic project:
The Reinvention of Truth.
Retallack is the author of
Musicage: John Cage in Conversation with Joan Retallack, published
by Wesleyan University Press and recipient of the America Award in Belles-Lettres.
Poetry and
Pedagogy: The Challenge of the Contemporary
, co-edited with Juliana Spahr, came out last year
from Palgrave MacMillan.
The Poetical Wager, a book of interrelated essays exploring the
consequences of form (including that of the essay), was published in 2004 by the University of
California Press which is also bringing out her
Gertrude Stein: Selections. A collection of
Retallack's procedural poems will come out from Roof Books in 2008. She has received a Lannan
Literary Grant for Poetry and is John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Professor of
Humanities at Bard College.
