Fanny Howe recently won the Lenore Marshall award for her Selected Poems (UC Press, 2000). She has also won the Commonwealth Prize of California for the same volume, two NEA grants and is a Fellow of the Radcliffe Institute. She is a poet and novelist and taught at UC San Diego for many years.
